Honestly all of this would seem like a w change if they would just remove the concept of having partnered teams. Than every season 4-8 t2 teams would get promoted to t1 switching it up every year while the best teams stay, it would also add pressure to every team even the teams that cant compete for top tier events to still performe good

The problem mainly with the SEA tier 2 division is the sheer amount of talent that is gonna be cut from Tier2 competition due to it being 6 whole regions, when South Asia and Oceania still get their own leagues despite those 2 regions having less investment, money, and depth of talent. Ive seen many suggestions about having that new SEA region being split in 2 with 3 regions each to where there still would be enough talent, eyes, orgs, etc. to make it sustainable

I think it’s a good system. Could bring views/money to tier 2. If a team has a big upset year and get relegated, plus it gets rid of ahit teams like MIBR, haven’t won a map in the split yet

I have Italian friends who are impacted by this. They said the change to merge into Challengers Spain is certainly disappointing (there's less guaranteed slots); but they understand what Riot's getting at. Most of them perfer to play in Frankfurt servers in both casual and competitive play (i'm NA so i wouldn't get European server preferences) & they're trying to adapt now to Madrid servers constantly.

There is one good thing for Tier 2 teams in this though. There is the potential of 2 Tier 2 teams ascending into Tier 1, which was not the case before.

Me personally i watch every T1 game except China where I mis out on some and in tier 2 I watch like whatever is on from my favorite regions which have eiter a broadcast in a language I understand or have great Quality.

I think this will also change on how orgs will manage their build roster.

what I just do not understand is why riot seems to be so afraid to introcude relegation for the original 10 franchised teams per league. sure, it makes it riskier for orgs to invest in teams, but matches like mibr-fur, koi-giantx, zeta-bleed would be so much more interesting given that those teams could actually be punished for being terrible. in the current system, franchised teams can just grab the free money without ever fearing to lose that, thus having no incentive to try and improve their teams, so in any league there will be teams that just keep sucking. why not introcude a relegation system where 12th seed gets demoted immediately and 11th plays against ascension 2nd place. that would also make tier2 more interesting for orgs given that globally 8 tier2 teams could ascend to tier1 every year

Would make sense if there werent absolute shit orgs in Franchising like Mibr ,DFM just being worse than some tier 2 teams just getting a free buy but that aint that big in the grand scheme of thing however the issue arises when there is a barrier for upcoming talent to become a tier 1 pro as in the thousands of people in radiant and high immortal thinking becoming a pro is not worth it. They would have to grind to get on tier 2 team then show a good performance and win(which is ridiculously hard and they be replaced easily even with a win and never play tier 1 like net) or show a goated performance (5-6 people max). Now they have 1 year to acclimate to tier 1 and not be chopped. Valorant will age out in regions that underperform just like Na lol because talent only shines if there is a chance to shine. Na lol became dead because it became an international retirement home and new players never got out of tier 2 and still are stuck clogging up the talent pipeline this in effect causes ranked to degrade too cause people stop caring about ranked as in now high tier players consider it a for fun gamemode cause doesnt lead to anything and this keeps going until people in all division play ranked as the new normal mode. I see parallels with this and Na lol tier 2. I get that tier 2 makes no money but why not make a regional tier 2 tourney where winning lets them play in masters and or even champs as the 4th place or 5th place regional team. It would get more eyes on tier 2 ,be good for the fans, and a better storyline at international events

I think T2 Pacific is just a lot worse and less supported than most other T2 regions so it makes sense taking a different approach

For Watchers that is great but not for the actual players who are dedicated to the game.

I used to watch a lot of tier 2 but it kinda feels meaningless with how disconnected tier 1 is with tier 2. And now with these changes there is even less of an incentive to watch because the likelihood is the team you watched grow in tier 2 will make changes to try and avoid relegation, thats if they even manage to ascend. The endgoal is too far away and unachievable for most, which results in the majority of games losing meaning in tier 2. It's not even like these changes remove the "bad teams" because the majority of the bad teams are the partnered teams.

I have a feeling that riot really wants relegation for all teams but dont want to scare the big orgs out of the esport

Argument you uses for 12 team may also make sense for 16 teams, that would be the best format, and solve the "Not enough game in a year" argument, solve the kcikoff format and make the carrot bigger for T2. maybe today it's too early for 16 teams, but I hope in few years it will be done because thats would solve so many issues for just one more day a week. For next year I hope that team that end 5-8 won't go to winner bracket, that would be so to have team that end mid and still having 2 chances, having only top 2 or top 4 team in the winner bracket give so mush more importance to regular season. Tbh, majority viewers who watch tier 1 don't watch tier 2 except if there are big esport team play in that tournament For example in SEA, people only interested to teams like Alter Ego, Boom, BTR, Full Sense, MiTH. The gap between vieweship with and without these team is huge!

The SEA part really fucked up. If you looked up last year's ascension. Almost all the top 4 teams were from sea. So if Riot decide to just have 1 or 2 teams that can qualify for ascension, it is so stupid

Removing auto relegation is a way to kill esports. Football became football BECAUSE it has these stories of last day miracles and such. Taking it out is STUPID, never let riot cook again. They're learning from US sports, that literally most people in the world don't watch, instead of learning with the most watched sport in the fucking world.

One of the biggest viewers that T2 has is just that no one cares about it. Ppl can act like they do all they want, but the T2 streams aren't even reaching 1k viewers unless it is a big playoff game (e.g. the finals to see who goes to T1) or another big streamer/player's team is involved (e.g. Ludwig, DSG & yay last year). From a business' pov, there is practically no point in continuing t2 except to add new rosters to t1

They did the change backwards, remove the orbs and give him a signature reset so its like most other signatures (jett dash example). Pop ability, get 1 favored fight, then earn the second kill without it to get a reset. How did they get this wrong?
